Our Before and After School Program is for children ages 5 to 11 years of age. This program strives to provide more physical activities and health education to decrease and prevent obesity; provide more engaging, hands-on activities; to help students meet NC learning standards; and give more opportunities for free play/choice. To empower learning through mentoring, academic assistance, enrichment and recreational opportunities.

The morning program opens at 6:00 am and runs until 6:45 am Monday through Friday. The morning session consist of a breakfast snack and then we transport children to school for the day.

The afternoon session operates from 2 pm until 6 pm Monday through Friday. We pick up your children from school and transport them back to Catawba Ridge Child Development Center. Upon arrival at the center, children are given a snack and then participate in a variety of activities which includes time for children to work on homework. They are also given the opportunity to relax and unwind after a long day at school. Children will be exposed to learning centers, playground activities, games and much more.

There are many goals for this program which are:

• Provide a place where self-esteem is nurtured and supported.
• Develop an appreciation of our multicultural heritage.
• Teach children ways of solving conflicts.
• Provide homework assistance.
• Provide opportunities to learn new skills.
